Our Academics

Sujana Convent School is distinctive both for its position in Bengaluru and because it is a vibrant community that encourages and supports children to embrace their potential for sustained endeavour. If your child likes a challenge, is curious and energetic about new things and has a desire to do well then this may well be the school for him/her.

The school is known for the quality of its teaching as well as for the breadth of its curriculum. Your child may enjoy Science, or English, or Mathematics, or History and Geography. He/she may like the idea of learning another language. The opportunities for being part of one of many sports teams, for art, drama and music are almost unlimited and go far beyond the academic results. The academic standard here is high, but high standards in the classroom and good sport, music, art and drama are by no means mutually exclusive, and we value our pupils’ achievements in all areas of school life and particularly in the way they treat each other in a friendly and caring manner.

Teaching students how to learn is just as important as teaching them what to learn. We encourage our students to think for themselves, ask questions and pursue their interests through independent reading and research.

The curriculum is regularly updated to stimulate students’ interests and gain the knowledge they need to compete in the fast-changing 21st century global world. Teachers strive to make the classes as interactive as possible and use different methods to get the best out of each student. Collaborative learning is incorporated into lessons so students can share ideas and learn with and from each other.

Students are engaged in experiential learning through a variety of resources. Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Physical Education are additional curricular offerings to all students.

Literacy

In the 21st century, students need to be literate not only in all content areas but also in “real life.” We understand the importance of  communication as to remain competitive in their global world, students also will need to be masterful in their communication (reading, writing, listening and speaking) skills.

Science

We believe Science should be exciting for young people, giving them skills and opportunities to improve their futures. So we follow the below methodology while teaching science,

  1. Teach scientific ways of thinking.

  2. Actively involve students in their own learning.

  3. Help students to develop a conceptual framework as well as to develop problem solving skills.

  4. Promote student discussion and group activities.

  5. Help students experience science in varied, interesting, and enjoyable ways.

Writing

Classroom writing, done with willful focus and daily diligence, remains an essential part of educating students of all ages. Writing is essential for self-understanding as it improves communication skills and encourages creativity and exploration.

Social Science

The inclusion of Social Studies in the curriculum right from primary to secondary classes signifies the importance of the subject and the role it plays in a student’s life. Social Studies is incorporated in the school curriculum through a combination of subjects like – History, Geography, Cultural Studies, Economics, Political Science, Sociology etc.

Mathematics

We teach mathematics by following the below methodology,

  1. Use Visuals. Many students need to see a lesson in addition to hearing it.

  2. Make Connections. Our brains are machines that thrive on connections.

  3. Use Assessments. Math is typically a progression-based subject.

  4. Focus on Strategies.

Physical Education

Physical education in high school is essential to the development of motor skills and the enhancement of reflexes. Hand-eye coordination is improved, as well as good body movements, which helps in the development of a healthy body posture. Physical education

teaches students the importance of physical health.
